Industrial Visit to Bharadia Engineering Industry (Manufacturing Engineering III)

On September 21, 2024, the Mechanical Engineering Department of Government Polytechnic, Jamnagar, organized an industrial visit to Bharadia Engineering Industry at 9, Patel Colony, Jamnagar, for 56 fifth-semester diploma students. Conducted from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, the visit was aligned with the Manufacturing Engineering III curriculum, aiming to provide hands-on exposure to advanced manufacturing techniques. Faculty members Mr. V. R. Maniar, Mr. S. P. Kotak, Mr. D. B. Harsora, and Mr. K. M. Chavda accompanied the students to guide the learning process.

At Bharadia Engineering Industry, a leading exporter of brass bearing cages, students observed modern manufacturing processes, including machining on Vertical Machining Centers (VMC) and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines. They witnessed milling, drilling, and turning operations, gaining insights into how automated control systems enhance precision, productivity, and repeatability in mass production. The visit highlighted the deburring process, where a vibrating bowl with abrasive media was used to smooth sharp edges on machined parts, ensuring functional reliability and quality. Students learned about the selection of abrasive media based on material and desired surface finish, critical for meeting export standards. The industry’s engineers explained tool path programming, tool selection, and setup times, emphasizing their role in efficient production. This practical exposure deepened students’ understanding of CNC and VMC operations, post-machining processes, and automation’s impact on manufacturing. The visit bridged theoretical concepts with real-world applications, enhancing students’ readiness for careers in advanced manufacturing. The Mechanical Engineering Department thanked Bharadia Engineering Industry for their support in facilitating this educational experience.
