On February 11, 2025, the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Government Polytechnic, Jamnagar, organized a guest lecture on "Metrology and Measurement" for pre-final year diploma students. Held from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM in Room No. 324, the event aimed to deepen students' understanding of metrology principles and their practical applications in industry. The guest speaker, Mrs. Sweta Saboo, CEO of Shree Venkatesh Engineering Works, Jamnagar, brought her extensive expertise in calibration services to the session. Approximately 78 students attended, actively engaging with the content.
Mrs. Saboo covered critical topics, including the significance of metrology in manufacturing, types of measurements (linear, angular, and surface), calibration processes, and the importance of precision and accuracy in quality control. She shared real-world examples, illustrating metrology’s role in industrial settings and highlighting career opportunities in the field. The interactive session allowed students to ask questions about instrument calibration and industry challenges, fostering a practical understanding of theoretical concepts. Faculty members, including conveners Dr. H. J. Parekh, Shri A. M. Galani, and Shri V. R. Maniar, along with coordinators Shri D. B. Hersora, Shri M. M. Boda, and Hinal Shah, ensured the event’s smooth execution. The lecture successfully bridged the gap between academic knowledge and industrial applications, equipping students with valuable insights into quality assurance in engineering. The Mechanical Engineering Department expressed gratitude to Mrs. Saboo and all participants for making the event impactful.
