Every year on February 28, India celebrates National Science Day to honour Sir C.V. Raman's 1928 discovery of the Raman Effect. Because of this important scientific accomplishment, he was granted the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930.
The purpose of the day is to encourage people, particularly students, to seek jobs in science and technology and to raise awareness of the value of science in everyday life. To commemorate this anniversary, every year, our department plans a number of activities, including expert lectures, seminars, or science exhibits.
National Science Day has a different topic every year to emphasise a different facet of science and how it affects society. India's future as a worldwide leader in science and technology will be greatly influenced by the contributions of young people, as highlighted by this year's theme, "Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science & Innovation for VIKSIT BHARAT."
To add to the same line of thought, this time, Dept. of Humanities & Sciences arranged a session for the First Year students with dual purpose; to make them aware regarding the motivation behind celebration of Science Day & to create a scientific temperament of the students to get them align with the theme of the year.
Dr. Nirav Shah, the lecturer of mathematics, and Dr. Urmi Joshi, the lecturer of physics, gave a briefing on the significance and history of the day while Mr Amit Joisar, the lecturer of chemistry, led and inspired the students to cultivate a scientific temperament and support nation-building. Under the headship of Mr Pravin Kanani, Mr Sanjay Chadaniya and Dr Komal Raichura looked for the smooth execution of the celebration. There were around 60 students there, and the discussion remained quite productive.
