Government Polytechnic, Jamnagar Celebrates National Mathematics Day since 2019 to to mark the birth anniversary of legendary Indian Mathematician, Srinivasa Ramanujan and recognizes his work. The day is celebrated with the aim to make students aware of the importance of mathematics, contribution of Indian mathematicians. This year also Government Polytechnic, Jamnagar has celebrated National Mathematics Day 2022 on 17/12/24 and 22/12/2024 with zeal and enthusiasm. Expert lecture on Life and Contribution of Shrinivasa Ramanujan, Online Quiz del and  were organized.

On 17/12/2024, in room no 301, the main building Celebration of National Mathematics day was organized. The event started with prayer. Dr. N. A. Danisir, Shri P. H. Kananisir, Shri J. H. Chhatbar sir, Shri V.V. Bhuvasir, Shri M. N. Nathanisir were dignitaries of the dais.

Initially, Mr. S. D. Chadniya (Lect. Maths) gave a welcome note and gave brief information of past National Mathematics Day celebrations of our institution. Shri S. D. Chadniya sir gave brief introduction about magic square given by Shrinivas Ramanujan related to birth date and motivated students to try the same. Dr. N. A. Dani (Sr. Lect. Maths) welcomed everyone; he motivated students to learn mathematics with great zeal. He added that mathematics is a lifelong useful tool for any engineer.

Expert Lecture by Dr. Nirav H. Shah on Life and Contribution of Shrinivas Ramanujan

Dr. Nirav Shah, narrated some incidents from the life of Shrinivas Ramanujan, his childhood incidents, his struggleful college life and journey towards higher mathematics.  He also narrated achievements of Ramanjuan and its mathematical contribution. He explained about the Hardy-Ramanujan number and explained the relevance and importance of celebration of National Mathematics day celebration. More than 100 students participated in expert lecture.

Online Quiz Competition on National Mathematics Day

           Online quiz competition was held on 22/12/2024, on National Mathematics Day, via google form. 236 regular  students, 44 alumni and 13 staff members have participated in the quiz.  Total participants are 293.
