A departmental seminar titled "An Introduction to the World of Virtual Reality" was organized on 13th March 2025 for students of the Electronics & Communication (EC) Department at Government Polytechnic, Jamnagar. The event was held in Room No. 207, New Building, with the presence of 40 students. Shri R. K. Borsaniya, SSIP Coordinator, served as the speaker for the session. He introduced students to the immersive world of Virtual Reality (VR), covering technical concepts, hardware design, applications across industries and future trends. The presentation included topics such as: VR headset components (displays, lenses, sensors and processors) Tracking systems and motion control Types of VR devices (PC-tethered, standalone, mobile-based) Applications in gaming, education, healthcare, architecture and business Challenges such as motion sickness, content limitations and cost Future of VR with AI integration, mixed reality and immersive workplaces A key highlight of the session was a live hands-on demonstration where students got the opportunity to experience VR using two advanced devices: Jio VR Headset – entry-level mobile VR experience Meta Quest 2 – standalone high-performance headset with motion tracking The event concluded with an open Q&A where students clarified technical queries and discussed use cases of VR in the EC domain, including opportunities in embedded systems, simulation tools and interactive electronics learning. The activity successfully transformed theory into tangible experience.
